This course introduces participants to the objective method for the appreciation of the art in art and in everyday experience. This method, developed at The Barnes Foundation by Dr. Albert Barnes and Violette de Mazia, enables students to experience works of art directly, make aesthetic discoveries, and undertake personal and independent analyses of works of art. Classes consist of lectures, readings, group discussion, individual projects, and lively activities. As part of the course, students will visit the Philadelphia Museum of Art and The Barnes Foundation.
