New Informed Perception: An Objective Approach to Aesthetic Appreciation, Summer 2008 (La Salle University Art Museum)

“Traditions in Art: A Plastic Approach,” held in the galleries of the Barnes Foundation, will explore the unique plastic qualities that distinguish artistic traditions as they have developed over the centuries.

Bill Perthes, assistant director of education, will address the interrelationships among traditions as well as how artists have adapted and interpreted relevant traditions for their own expressive needs.

Instruction will include direct interaction with works of art, discussion, reading, and analysis. Participants will learn to think critically and to work cooperatively and independently.

“Traditions in Art” is designed to strengthen understanding of the objective method of art analysis introduced in “Informed Perception: An Objective Approach to Aesthetic Appreciation.” The successful completion of “Informed Perception” or its equivalent is a prerequisite for enrollment.

February 13-May 28, Wednesdays, 1:00-4:00 p.m.
