Christine Stoughton
Christine Stoughton, a printmaker and sculptor, has taught printmaking in community art centers since 2001 and for the Continuing Inspiration Program of the University of the Arts since 2006. She studied with the Violette de Mazia Foundation under the instruction of Marilyn Bauman and William Perthes from 2001 to 2005, and participated in the Foundation’s Teacher Training Program during the summer of 2007.
Christine began her teaching career as a Special Educator in public schools and residential treatment facilities after obtaining her B.A. from St. Louis University and her M.A. from University of Louisville. She earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Boston College in 1984, and had a psychology practice until 1992. That year she began studying at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, receiving her PAFA diploma in 1998. She has also studied part time at the Chicago Art Institute, Boston Museum School and Ontario College of Art.
Christine has exhibited her art regionally and in Canada since 1992. She is the recipient of a Window of Opportunity Award from the Leeway Foundation, a Design Award from The Winter Garden Show in Toronto, Ontario, and the Mark Cullinane Prize in Sculpture from the Pennsylvania Academy of Arts.
